Device Management

Device Blocking & Unblocking, Explained

Nteqo's device management system keeps financing agreements enforceable — automatically. Here's exactly how it works for consumers and businesses.

How Device Blocking Works

When a payment becomes overdue, Nteqo's enforcement engine activates a sequence of automated steps — no manual intervention required.

Payment Due

Day 1

Your scheduled payment date arrives. The system checks for a successful transaction against your registered payment method.

Grace Period Alert

Day 3

If no payment is detected, an automated reminder is sent via SMS and email. The device remains fully active during this window.

Overdue Status

Day 7

The device is flagged as Overdue in the Nteqo system. A second alert is sent. The retailer is notified. The device is still active.

Block Initiated

Day 14

If the account remains unpaid, a remote block command is issued to the device. The device enters a restricted state — calls and emergency services remain available.

Instant Unblock

On Payment

As soon as a successful payment is confirmed, the block is lifted automatically. Full device functionality is restored within minutes.

Device Status Reference

Every device on the Nteqo platform is assigned one of four statuses at all times.

Active

Payments are current. The device has full functionality.

Overdue

A payment has been missed. Reminders are being sent. Device is still active.

Blocked

Enforcement has been applied. Device is restricted. Emergency calls remain available.

Disputed

A payment dispute is under review. Enforcement is paused pending resolution.

Common Questions

Can I make a partial payment to delay a block?

Partial payments are recorded and reduce your outstanding balance, but a block will only be lifted once the full overdue amount is cleared. Contact your retailer to discuss a payment arrangement.

What happens to my data when my device is blocked?

Blocking restricts network and app functionality but does not affect data stored on the device. Your photos, contacts, and files remain intact and accessible.

How long does unblocking take after payment?

Unblocking is typically completed within 5 to 15 minutes of a confirmed payment. In most cases it is near-instant.

Can a business block a device without warning?

No. Nteqo's system enforces a mandatory notification sequence before any block is issued. Businesses cannot skip the grace period or notification steps.

What if I dispute a charge?

Raise a dispute through your customer portal or contact your retailer directly. Disputed accounts are flagged and enforcement is paused pending resolution.
